Loyola University Maryland welcomed the members of its class of 2020. As first-year students embark on their college experience, they will all take part in Loyola's living learning program, Messina. The common text for Messina is How to Win an Election, Quintus Tullius Cicero's letter to his brother, Marcus Cicero, a candidate for Consul (the highest office in the Roman church) in 64 B.C.

Bucknell University has released the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2015-16 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean's list recognition.
Area students in the Class of 2019 at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, enrolled this fall. The class has 508 members and was selected from the largest and most academically qualified pool of applications in Colby's 202-year history. The class includes 33 Presidential Scholars, 23 Bunche Scholars, and 20 students from the United World Colleges.

In an outdoor ceremony May 22, 504 degrees were awarded to members of Colby's Class of 2016 at the College's 195th Commencement. As guest speaker, Internet pioneer and author Arianna Huffington spoke about the need to unplug and get some rest, urging graduates to connect with others personally -- not electronically -- and change the culture and language around work and sleep. Colby President David A. Greene handed a diploma to each of the graduates.
